How We Approach an AC Replacement
Swapping in a new outdoor unit isn't the whole job. Our technicians run a full load calculation that accounts for your home's square footage, insulation levels, window placement, and ductwork before recommending equipment size. A system that's too large cools the space fast but leaves excess humidity behind, while one that's too small runs constantly and still struggles on the hottest afternoons.
Component compatibility gets just as much attention as sizing. An old indoor coil paired with a brand-new condenser can hurt efficiency and put your manufacturer's warranty at risk, so we swap the coil too whenever it isn't a match for the new refrigerant or capacity. The refrigerant line set is inspected as well — we flush or replace it so residue from the old system doesn't contaminate your new equipment.
Once the new system is in, we test duct static pressure, dial in refrigerant charge with calibrated gauges, and confirm your electrical disconnect and breaker are rated for the new equipment. Before we consider the job finished, we measure airflow and temperature split at multiple vents throughout the house — and we take the old unit with us when we go.
